What happened to Sloan after The Umbrella Academy Season 3?

When The Umbrella Academy Season 3 ended, there was a storyline we hoped to see. It was all about Luther finding Sloane.

At the end of the third season, Sir Reginald Hargreeves reprogrammed the world that he sent the Hargreeves siblings to. This was half formed after Allison killed Reginald, and it led to the siblings not having their powers and Sloane going missing. Meanwhile, Luther, who had died in the finale, came back alive.

Sloane was the only one to go missing. It led to us hoping that there would be a storyline of Luther going off to find his wife. That didn’t happen, but why?

Sloane wasn’t in The Umbrella Academy Season 4 due to logistics

Sadly, the decision not to include Sloane in the final season came down to logistics. It looks like the series didn’t have the time to be able to add in the story that showrunner Steve Blackman wanted to do.

According to Radio Time, he wanted to do a story where Sloane didn’t remember Luther. He would find her and then have to remind her of all the great moments they shared together. The aim was to get them back together to offer some sort of happy ending—although, it would have ended up being bittersweet.

"I wanted Sloane to be alive, just not remembering Luther, and him trying to get her to love him again. For logistical reasons, we just couldn’t make it work. We just couldn’t make it happen."

Of course, it wouldn’t have made much sense for Sloane not to remember Luther but for him to remember her. Maybe that’s why it wasn’t actually written in. How do you explain that when everyone else remembers each other?

If there were 10 episodes to the season, there would have been time for that. It’s hard when there were only six episodes.

Sloane is mentioned in The Umbrella Academy Season 4, though. Luther thinks about her in the premiere episode, when he is at the birthday party for his niece. He tells Diego that he would have killed to have what Diego and Lila have with Sloane. There is a chance that he searched for her but she just wasn’t in this universe, just like the remaining Sparrow Academy members.
