In the House of the Dragon Season 2 premiere, Cheese didn’t do his work alone. He had a loyal canine companion with him. In the second episode, we find out what happened to the dog.
If you’re anything like me, you care more about the fates of the animals, especially dogs. There’s always that fear that something bad is going to happen. You see, dogs are so loyal and so innocent, that the idea of something terrible happening to them is heartbreaking. They don’t deserve it.
In the House of the Dragon Season 2 premiere, the dog was told to stay downstairs and wait for Cheese’s return. Did Cheese come back, or did something happen to the dog in the hustle around the castle?
Cheese doesn’t make it in House of the Dragon Season 2
It’s not surprising to hear that Blood and Cheese don’t make it out of King’s Landing with Jaehaerys’s head. Just a look at some of the leaked photos made it clear that Jaehaerys would be intact for the funeral procession.
Well, we learned Blood was caught running out of the castle with the head. It was only a matter of time before Cheese would be caught. Why would Blood take the whole blame? The problem is Blood didn’t have a name. All he knew was that Cheese as a rat catcher.
Aegon decided to make a spectacle of it all. He rounded up all the rat catchers and hanged them. This is a way to deter others from attacking Team Green.
The dog saw his human’s body in House of the Dragon
What about the dog? Well, the dog did escape, and he didn’t face the same punishment as his human. It could be worse for this poor dog, though.
We see a moment of the dog looking up at the hanged body of his human. The dog clearly knows that his human isn’t coming back from this. He just whines, showing that dogs really do have emotions.
What does this mean for the dog now? I doubt that we’ll actually see. Maybe the dog is just spotted roaming the streets. However, things aren’t great in King’s Landing. The gates are shut with no food coming in. That means everyone is hoarding what they have, and I don’t think it would be long until the people turn to other animals for their protein. I hope that dog can stay out of dodge!
