The Librarians: The Next Chapter pulled from The CW's fall schedule (but why?)
Those who were ready to see the next part of The Librarians story will be very disappointed. The CW has suddenly pulled The Librarians: The Next Chapter off the fall schedule.
A lot of people are wondering what is going on with The CW right now. There are a lot of shocking and disappointing decisions, and pulling The Librarians spin-off from the schedule is just the latest one. The worst part is that The CW hasn’t confirmed whether it will now be part of the midseason schedule, or if the series is being shelved completely.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter will not air in October anymore
The time travel drama was set to air on The CW starting Thursday, Oct. 24. It was going to air after new episodes of Superman & Lois, with two great shows being paired together.
TVLine says that The CW has opted to put The Wranglers on the air instead. The Wranglers is an eight-part docuseries that will follow the lives of Circle Bar Dude Ranch staff members. It certainly doesn’t match the feel of Superman & Lois in the way that The Librarians: The Next Chapter would.
As this is an eight-part series, there is a little hope that the spin-off will air in January instead.
The good news is that Dean Devlin is the creator and showrunner of The Librarians: The Next Chapter. If The CW plans to shelve this series, Devlin will shop the series around. This is his franchise, and he will find a way to get it on the air. After all, there is a loyal following for this series. We were all ready for it, especially after hearing that Christian Kane was expected to return as Jacob Stone on a recurring basis.
What is The Librarians: The Next Chapter about?
The new series will start off in 1847. Vikram Chamberlin (Callum McGowan) breaks the rules and accidentally takes himself forward in time to present-day Central Europe. He learns that things have changed considerably, and now he needs to lead a team of talented young people so they can secure magical artifacts before they land in the wrong hands.
Of course, whenever someone travels from another time period, there is the question of whether they will look to return to their own time. That would go against Vikram’s oath to the Library, but he has some unfinished business in the past.
