5 sci-fi shows to watch while you wait for Outlander to return
Go into the future with The 100
How about a dystopian series? There are a few out there, and I do highly recommend Silo, but there’s another one that’s worth checking out. The 100 is one that puts the focus on 100 teenagers who are selected to head down to Earth from their spaceship to see if the planet is habitable again.
You see, the planet suffered from nuclear war, and the radiation was too much for people to live on it. A lot of people ended up on a spaceship. Now centuries in the future, the spaceship isn’t going to sustain life anymore. Who better to send to Earth than the teenagers who are imprisoned and awaiting trial to see if they’re allowed to live with others or if they will be floated for their crimes?
These teenagers have no idea what’s going on. They end up having to just figure out how to survive on Earth. And they soon realize that they are not alone.
The 100 is available to stream on Netflix.
Opt for a mystery with Dark Matter
Finally, we turn to a series that involves a group of people waking up on a spaceship with no memory of who they are. They end up going by the order they woke up in, but they need to figure out why they chose to wipe their own memories, especially with threats coming toward them. Also, why did they wipe the computer system as well?
It turns out that they’re not all good people. We get an interesting look at nature vs. nurture with this show. There’s also a look at how sci-fi really is political!
Sadly, the show was canceled after three seasons and unlike The Expanse, it wasn’t saved. You’ll want to check out the show to see how fun space shows can be.
Dark Matter is on The CW Seed.
