Outlander Season 7, Part 2 gets a release month
When Outlander Season 7’s premiere was announced, it came with the news that the season would be split in two. We finally have a release month for Outlander Season 7, Part 2.
We knew that we would have to wait until 2024 for the second half of the season. That wasn’t too bad when there were thoughts that the episodes would arrive in February or March. Then we had some hope that the episodes would arrive in the spring. April or May wouldn’t have been too bad.
Well, Outlander has finally confirmed a release month, and it’s a lot longer than we anticipated and hoped for. At least we have a small light at the end of the Droughtlander tunnel.
Outlander Season 7B coming in November 2024
Fans need to wait until the fall. And toward the end of fall at that! Outlander Season 7, Part 2 will premiere in November 2024.
As of right now, there isn’t a set premiere date. This is normal. STARZ will want to see how the scheduling goes. While there will likely be a set date in mind, nothing in TV scheduling is set in stone.
Why has Outlander Season 7, Part 2 been delayed so long?
Considering filming had wrapped last year, it has led to a lot of questions about why the eight episodes have taken so long to come out. There will be a few things at play for this.
The first was the strike action. While Outlander isn’t a SAG-AFTRA show, it is a WGA show. If any rewrites and reshoots were needed during the strike action, the Outlander writers couldn’t do anything. The series actually stood in solidarity as there were some on the series who were connected to SAG, including showrunner Matt B. Roberts. This meant that Season 8 filming was delayed (also due to the WGA strike) and that the reshoots didn’t happen right away.
STARZ will also want to keep the last Droughtlander to a minimum. There may have initially been a plan to bring Outlander Season 8 in 2025. However, the strike action in the summer potentially pushed the filming for the final season back, which will then push the release back. To prevent too long of a Droughtlander before Season 8, this Droughtlander has been extended.
It sucks to have such long Droughtlanders as fans, but they do need to happen to ensure quality content.
Another reasoning could be other shows that are coming to STARZ. There were a lot of shows from the pandemic and then the strike period that were delayed. STARZ will need to prioritize everything.
At least we have a release month. Now we have a month in mind to get to.
