3 Outlander characters I'd love to have seen stick around longer
There are some characters we didn’t want to say goodbye to. Then there were other Outlander characters who could have made some interesting villains. Others just weren’t around long enough to really make the impact in the story that they should have.
All Outlander fans have their own opinions of characters who should have stuck around for a little longer. Here are three I would have loved to see more of.
Outlander Season 1’s Lieutenant Jeremy Foster
Lieutenant Jeremy Foster first appeared in the Season 1 episode “Rent.” He would then appear in “Prestonpans,” which is where he would be killed off. I would have loved to see him come up again between that, though.
Foster was a good man. He believed that Claire was being harassed and kept prisoner by the MacKenzie men. He just wanted to make sure she was safe and unharmed. He was so different to many of the other military men we’d met in the series, so it would have been nice to continue that.
Could it have offered much to the plot? Of course not, and that’s why he wasn’t kept around. That doesn’t mean I can’t wish I saw more of him!
Outlander Season 2’s Master Raymond
There is no doubt that there is more to Master Raymond’s story to tell. In the books, we do get a little more. At least, there’s a hint that there is a little more. We don’t see him, but his name is potentially mentioned. There is also a short story about him, which gives us a little more detail about his past.
I would love for Master Raymond to pop up again. He saved Claire’s life, and I would love to see him pop up in some way to show Claire how to use her powers when she comes into them. They had an immediate connection, and Master Raymond seeing Claire’s aura certainly created that.
Outlander Season 3’s Yi Tien Cho/Mr. Willoughby
I was so glad that Yi Tien Cho’s character was substantially changed from the stereotype in the book, Voyager. The show was also able to give him a slightly better ending, with him going off with Margaret to live a peaceful and happier life.
I’d love to see if that was possible. In the show, Yi Tien Cho was loyal to Jamie, and he was so respectful of Claire (and vice versa). Outlander does have a problem with diversity, even while set in North Carolina, so adding Yi Tien Cho back in would be a positive for that.
