Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

I get a sense that this chapter is more about wrapping things up for Bobby and Silvia. This book saw Bobby lose Amy and he was lost himself for a while. However, he’s young, and he is expected to marry again.

Then there’s Silvia, who has left her husband after she learned he was still alive and married to someone else. She is trying to start afresh, and considering her age and standing, she is expected to marry again. At least, society expects that.

This chapter does seem to come a bit out of left field, though. I don’t think we really need it. It could have just been mentioned in passing.

Adapting the Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone chapter

I don’t think we’ll see this chapter for a few reasons. Even if we did meet Bobby already, I don’t think he’d be a huge part to the story. I also don’t expect that we’ll see Silvia’s storyline play out. It seems like a lot for something so little. This is going to depend on whether Silvia will be written in to help Jamie recover at some point in Outlander Season 7B or early in Season 8.

This chapter just doesn’t seem to be needed for the TV series, either. I find it a little pointless considering everything else that is going on right now. Sometimes, I do think unnecessary storylines are thrown into the Outlander books. I want to see the action unfold and not characters I’m not all that bothered about. Sorry Hardman women!
