Just the Outlander chapter

Jamie is thinking a lot about the Battle of Culloden. That’s the last time Jamie really though the was going to die. That time, he wanted it. This time, he doesn’t. He wonders if Frank had ever found out more about what Jamie did at Culloden. One thing he still doesn’t know is whether he was responsible for Black Jack Randall’s death.

His thoughts are cut off by Young Ian rushing in. The colonels are arguing over hanging Loyalists who have been caught. These people want the hang men without a trial. Jamie goes to diffuse the situation, but it doesn’t work at first. It’s hard when there are a group of people following Benjamin Cleveland’s rhetoric.

Then Jamie recognizes one of the men as Lachlan, a man from the Ridge. He had been involved in the uprising with Cunningham, but Lachlan’s brother was a member of Jamie’s militia. The brother creates a distraction to give Jamie and Young Ian time to get to Lachlan and help him escape.

By the time Jamie gets back, the crowd of people have gotten bored. That was short lived.
