Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

I think we get a sense that Frank’s book was right in this chapter. Jamie is going to die at Kings Mountain. Jamie has never really felt this weight outside of Culloden. I get a similar sense to the lead up to Culloden, knowing that something isn’t going to work out.

This one is different, though. Claire isn’t being taken through the stones before the battle. That’s a clear sign that Kings Mountain won’t work out the way that Frank writes. It’s not that Frank lies, but that he doesn’t know about Claire’s healing abilities.

Adapting the Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone chapter

I do see this chapter being used in Outlander Season 8. We get a lot of buildup to the battles, so I suspect that we’ll get this one. It’s a highly emotional battle, after all.

Having the buildup is important for the other characters, as well. This is where we find out that Davy may never be able to travel through the stones. It keeps the MacKenzies in the past. They’re not going to leave a child behind. I think it also shows just what Jamie wants. He has always assumed that he would die in battle, and now he shares the three things he would like Claire to do afterward.
