Sara Vickers is joining the cast of Outlander: Blood of My Blood. She’ll play Davina Porter, but where have you seen the actress before?
The name Davina Porter will ring a bell for a lot of audiobook listeners. Porter narrates the Outlander novels, and yes, she is the reason for the naming of a particular character in the world of the series. Diana Gabaldon has often named characters after actors in the flagship series or in other important roles, and Porter landed a name in Brian Fraser’s story.
Davina is the Lovat housekeeper, who happened to end up in a trisk with Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat. Their affair (not Davina’s choice) led to her becoming pregnant with Brian Fraser. Simon chose to acknowledge the illegitimate child.
Where you’ve seen Sara Vickers before Outlander: Blood of My Blood?
According to her IMDb, Vickers has been in on-screen roles since 2003. She landed guest spots in the likes of The Book Club and Taggart at first, but she has moved onto bigger and better roles since.
Shetland fans will know that a lot of Outlander cast members have been in the series. Now it looks like Shetland cast members will end up in the Outlander universe. Vickers was in five episodes of the Scottish crime drama as Leanne Randall.
She also has experience in period dramas. She played Marion Crawford in one episode of The Crown in 2016 and was in one episode of The Alienist in 2018, playing Jane Gooding.
How about something meatier? Well, Vickers took on the role of Mrs. Crookshanks in all eight episodes of The Watchmen. This was the TV series adaptation, which was unfairly canceled back in 2019.
Most recently, you can see her as Joan Thursday in Endeavour. This is the prequel Inspector Morse series, so she is no stranger to working in a world that already has a universe established. You can also see her as Erin in Guilt.
I’m excited to see her as Davina in Outlander: Blood of My Blood. What about you?
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will come to Starz.
