Outlander: Blood of My Blood casting: Who is Jamie Roy?
Outlander: Blood of My Blood production is officially underway, and we’ve just gained some exciting casting news. Jamie Roy will take on the role of Brian Fraser in the prequel series.
It makes sense to give the role to someone other than Andrew Whipp. While Whipp brought Brian to life in the flagship series, this is a prequel series and the show needs a younger actor to play the role. Jamie Roy is that man, and you may have seen him before.
Jamie Roy is a Scottish actor
Let’s start by saying that the accent you’ll hear is genuine. I know that’s been a bone of contention for fans of Outlander with a few actors. Well, Roy is a Scot.
He was born in Greenock but grew up in Glasgow. He went to Strathclyde University (in Glasgow) to do a degree in International Business and Entrepreneurship before getting into acting.
He’s relatively new to the acting world, with credits only starting in 2018 on IMDb. That’s nothing to worry about. Sam Heughan wasn’t all that well-known before landing the role of Jamie in the flagship series.
What has Jamie Roy been in before Outlander: Blood of My Blood?
Roy’s first role was as Private Archuelta in Point Man. He would play Ben in the short Pursuit of Jigsaw, which was not part of the Saw franchise, although it would seem it from the title.
He has gained a career with TV movies in 2021. He started off as Adam in Picture Perfect Lies, and then played Ben, one of the main actors, in Burning Little Lies. His most recent projects include playing the male lead in the TV movie You Boyfriend Is Mine and playing Sergeant Lewis in the period drama Candor’s Nest, which follows the hunt for Nazis in South America a decade after World War II.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on STARZ.
