My Lady Jane is a fun ride into the world of alternate history. After binge-watching the first season, you’ll want to watch more. The question is whether there will be a second season.
My Lady Jane follows the story of Lady Jane Grey. This is alternate history, though, and it also includes a lot of magic. There is also the storyline of poisoning King Edward VI, and a young Jane Grey who want to take her own life into her own hands.
After this fun trip through a different history, there are now questions about whether there will be more to the story. Will we get to see how the story of Jane continues? There is likely some disappointing news.
My Lady Jane is based on one book
My Lady Jane follows the novel by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows. The series follows this singular book from beginning to end—although there are a few changes to the book storyline.
There are more books in the My Lady Janies trilogy. They don’t follow the story of Lady Jane Grey, though. The second book in the trilogy, My Plain Jane, follows the story of Jane Eyre. Then the third book, My Calamity Jane, is set in 1876 America and follows Calamity Jane.
If Prime Video renews the show, it won’t be to follow on with Lady Jane Grey’s story. If it is, it won’t follow any source material. Of course, this doesn’t rule out the chance of a second season since we’ve seen shows continue the story without source material in the past. This series was never billed as a limited series, so Prime Video could consider a renewal.
The benefit of alternate history is that there can be a lot of fun with this story. There could even be a chance to move on to other characters and offer alternate history there. However, if Prime Video wants to continue a look at 1500 alternate history, there is The Boleyn Trilogy books, which is an alternate history series that looks at what if Anne Boleyn had a son.
My Lady Jane hints at a second season
However, the end of the first season made it clear that this series is left open for more. Jane Grey is still out there. Queen Mary is on the throne, and Jane will do anything to take down the tyrant.
The narrator of the series made it clear that the story isn't over. Now we just need Prime Video to renew it.
