It’s been many years since Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian have been at Lallybroch. That’s where we find them in Outlander Season 7B. The recently released photos tell us that.

Matt B. Roberts has teased some things to come with TVLine, reminding us that it’s been some time since the trio have been “home.” There are a lot of mixed feelings involved.

Going back home is tough in Outlander Season 7B

Roberts shares that “it’s tough” going back home when you’ve been gone a long time. That’s certainly true. If you’ve been away for a long period of time, you can feel a little out of sorts when you go back. Things change without you there, and you can feel a little off—almost like a visitor—when you go back. I can say that from experience.

"Going home again, it’s tough when you’ve been gone so long."

Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian will experience that in Outlander Season 7B. They are going back as people who have spent the last few years in America, seeing the birth of a new nation.

Young Ian has changed considerably since he left. He was a young boy who was just learning the ways of the world when he was taken to Jamaica. He’s since found a best friend in Rollo, learned all about the Mohawk culture, loved and lost, and so much more. He’s now a man—finding a way to become a “man of worth,” as he put it.

Then there’s Claire and Jamie. A lot will have happened in Scotland without them. While we know that Jamie at least has likely written to Jenny a few times, that doesn’t mean they can really see how much has changed.

A new Jenny to get used to in Outlander Season 7B

As we previously reported, Kristen Atherton is stepping into Laura Donnelly’s shoes as Jenny Murray. This is due to Donnelly not returning to the series but Jenny Murray being an important character from this point in the story. The show couldn’t get around not having her back in some fashion.

There is a lot of positivity for Atherton from the Outlander cast. Jenny is still the fiery Jenny that we know, and it’s going to be exciting to see what she brings in the new season.

Outlander Season 7B premieres on Friday, Nov. 22 on Starz.
