From the start of Interview with the Vampire, we’ve had Louis’s story. He shared it all with Daniel Molloy, with people of the likes of Lestat and Armand just supporting characters. It’s time for things to change.
Interview with the Vampire Season 3 is going to be based on Anne Rice’s second book, The Vampire Lestat. The second book is Lestat’s story from his own point of view, and that’s what we’ll get in the third season.
Showrunner Rolin Jones confirms Lestat’s story in Interview with the Vampire Season 3
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Rolin Jones confirms that there is a change of leading male in the third season. Jones commented about how for the last two seasons, Sam Reid has been a great supporting actor for Jacob Anderson. Now it’s time for Anderson to return the favor, and it sounds like something Anderson is excited about doing.
"Sam worked really hard for two years as a supporting actor, and I think Jacob is very excited to do the same thing for him, and put Sam front and center."
This could mean seeing less of Anderson on the screen. After all, Louis isn’t part of Lestat’s story in Rice’s novel. This doesn’t mean that we can’t see him here and there, but it’s time to see Lestat through his own eyes and not through the eyes of others.
Lestat’s story from being turned to being a rock star
What we know right now is that we’ll see Lestat start a band in Interview with the Vampire Season 3. He doesn’t like the way he was portrayed in Daniel Molloy’s fiction story, and he wants to show the world who he really is.
This means seeing how Lestat was turned and the life he had up to the point of meeting Louis. We need to understand why Lestat would risk so much in saving Louis from his trial in Paris. We need to see just how Armand and Lestat know each other, and we need to see how Lestat reacted when he learned of Claudia’s death.
The benefit of Interview with the Vampire Season 3 is that we’ll be reminded that there is always more than one side to a story. If the series follows the books, we should see moments that Louis has already told us about and see what Lestat’s side of the story is.
