When we found out House of the Dragon Season 2 would arrive in summer 2024, we were excited. Now it looks like it will arrive much earlier than we initially anticipated.
House of the Dragon Season 2 is coming sometime during the second quarter. HBO hasn’t officially announced the date, but we know based on statements from Casey Bloys and David Zaslav, we’re going to see the series sometime in early summer.
Now it all depends on when the networks have decided that summer officially starts. Technically, it doesn’t start until the Summer Solstice around June 20, but a lot of networks count the whole of June as the start of summer.
House of the Dragon Season 2 should premiere in June 2024
So, with all the information in mind, we’re looking at a June 2024 premiere date. Back in February, Zaslav had said that House of the Dragon and Hacks were part of the lineup “next quarter,” which means somewhere between April and June. Variety now reports that the series will premiere in June.
There is no clear date just yet. It is much earlier than expected, though. A lot of fans expected August 2024. After all, Matt Smith had previously shared that the season would arrive in August. He quickly changed his wording, though. We have seen actors get it wrong in the past.
The thing with network schedules is that they constantly have to change due to extenuating circumstances. We just have to look at the way the pandemic and the strike action changed everything up. But even just the slightest delays due to weather patterns preventing filming from happening can have a knock-on effect.
We’re just excited to have a summer of dragons. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on this series.
House of the Dragon is available to stream on Max.
