What does Helaena's vision mean for House of the Dragon Season 3?
Helaena interacted with more people in House of the Dragon Season 2 than we expected. In the finale, she told Aemond of a vision she has had, and it makes it clear that things aren’t going to go well for him.
It’s not clear if Aemond believe Helaena has visions or not. There are some things that she says that seem weird and childlike, but they have foreshadowed things to come. She was worried about the rats in the premiere, and it was Cheese who was part of the attack on her son Jaehaerys.
Helaena also points out that she saw Aemond burn Aegon and allow him to fall. She wasn’t there for the fight and nobody else saw or wants to admit what happened. So, it suggests that Helaena knows the truth through visions.
We know that Helaena is sharing things to come, and they’re not looking good for Aemond. What exactly did her vision mean?
Helaena knows that Aegon will return to King’s Landing in House of the Dragon
Larys Strong manages to sneak Aegon out of King’s Landing in the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale. Nobody is meant to know this, but Helaena seems to. Of course, she could just be commenting on that Aegon will make a recovery to be able to take control back from Aemond.
She points out that Aegon will sit on a wooden throne. This indicates how Aegon will eventually be paralyzed.
In a recent episode, Larys told Aegon that his leg will never heal properly again. It hints that he won’t be able to walk up the stairs to the Iron Throne. However, in the book, Aegon is crippled in a later battle when he jumps off Sunfyre and ends up crushing both of his legs. He sits in a wheelchair for the rest of his life—his wooden throne.
Helaena tells Aemond he will die in House of the Dragon
Helaena then tells Aemond that he will die. She shares that Aemond will die in the God’s Eye.
This is a clear foreshadowing of the fight to come. In the book, Aemond and Daemon fight against each other in the God’s Eye above Harrenhal. It’s an epic dragon fight that ends with the two dying. Interestingly, Helaena doesn’t tell Aemond that Daemon will die too. She just makes it clear that his death is to come.
Those who have read the book know that Daemon’s body is never found. There are theories that he decides to live a life away from Westeros, and Helaena not included him in the vision suggests that that could happen. She doesn’t mention Rhaenyra or others, though, so she may have just focused on her brothers.
Either way, Helaena knows what will come for her brothers. It paves the way for House of the Dragon.
