In some great news, For All Mankind Season 5 is happening. Production has just started on the series, according to Ronald D. Moore, and there are some changes to come.
Production just starting up makes sense. The series was renewed just after the fourth season came to an end earlier this year. Then the writing and pre-production work would be needed. The show is making some good progress, but I still don’t think that we’ll see For All Mankind Season 5 in 2025.
For All Mankind Season 5 will likely still be held for 2026
With production starting up now, it’s easily going to take eight months to get through the season. Then there’s the post-production needs, and a series like this requires a lot of work in the post-production process.
At a pinch, the end of 2025 is possible. We’re looking at a late November or December premiere. However, I think early 2026 is more realistic. I’d rather the quality of work to remain high rather than everyone pushing for a release next year.
What to expect in For All Mankind Season 5
The series will continue to include a time jump, and Moore says that there is focus right now on structuring the final third of the season. This is important as there are some big changes coming to Mars and to Earth politically.
Not all episodes have been fully written, yet. The final episodes have been initially plotted and structured, but only the first five or six are ready right now. While it is ideal to have all episodes written by the time filming happens, it’s never been the case for this series.
What we do know is that there are some new characters coming in. Mireille Enos has joined the series as a series regular. This isn’t the first time she’s worked with Joel Kinnaman, working with him on Hanna and The Killing in the past. It’s always fun to see co-stars working together again. That is if Ed Baldwin is still around with the latest time jump. Enos will play Celia Boyd, a member of the Peacekeeper Security Force on Mars.
Now eyes are on the year that the series will actually take place and what the lives on Mars and Earth are actually like.
