What to expect for Laoghaire in Outlander Season 7B based on the books

We knew Laoghaire was coming back in Outlander Season 7. So, seeing her in a couple of images for Outlander Season 7B wasn’t that surprising.

There are plenty of theories from non-book fans as to what could happen. The benefit of this series is there is source material. While not everything has remained the same, the bones of the story are there. We’re sure to see Laoghaire’s storyline play out very similar to that in An Echo in the Bone.

That does mean we’re heading into spoilers from the book. What can we expect for Laoghaire?

Laoghaire has a secret love interest in Outlander

While Laoghaire is still putting on a show that she wants Jamie’s money, she is hiding a secret. If this secret got out, it could lead to some issues for her.

You see, she has a love interest. She’s interested in a servant called Joey. If she were to make anything official with him, it would be a problem financially. After all, as a servant he doesn’t make that much money.

She has also become used to a standard of living from the past. That means she needs the money that Jamie sends. This money, which was due to Jamie’s bigamy when he married her and Claire returned, is a financial struggle for Claire and Jamie, but it’s not like Laoghaire cares about that.

Claire blackmails Laoghaire to marry Joey in Outlander

It’s Joanie who comes to the rescue of Claire and Jamie. If Laoghaire marries Joey, it would mean that Joanie can follow the path that she wants to follow. She wants to be a nun, and she goes to Jamie to share what she wants and how she can use her dowry money to make it possible.

At the same time, Laoghaire learns from Marsali that Henri-Christian needs help. He has enlarged tonsils that cause a risk to his life. Laoghaire begs Claire to go back to America to save her grandson, not knowing that Claire would do this even without Laoghaire asking. Claire is able to use it to her advantage. She’ll go back and help Henri-Christian if Laoghaire marries Joey and stops Jamie’s contractual payments.

It works, and so Jamie is released from everything Laoghaire holds over him. Joanie is able to follow her passions and faith at the same time.

Outlander Season 7B premieres on Friday, Nov. 22 on Starz.
