What to expect for Geillis in Outlander Season 7B based on the books
Outlander has made it clear that Geillis Duncan would return in Season 7. Now we know that she will be back in Outlander Season 7B, and fans want to know how.
Of course, those who have read Written in My Own Heart’s Blood already have all the spoilers. What about those who haven’t read the books but would like the spoilers? We have you covered with this post.
We take a look at how Geillis comes back into the story, and what to expect for her in Outlander Season 7B.
Geillis has moved to Cranesmuir in Written in My Own Heart’s Blood
In the eighth of the Outlander books, we see Roger and Buck in 1739. As they fall through the stones, Buck suffers with heart problems, and this gets them to a place they can stay while Dr. McEwan treats Buck the magical way. This is important to Geillis’s story.
The two come across Dougal, and Roger tells Buck more about his parents. Geillis is somewhere around, and the people the two stay with talk about the woman who used to live in a burned down croft. The say she was a witch, and it turns out she headed to Cranesmuir.
Buck wants to know more about his parents, and he wants to meet his mother. So, off the two go to Cranesmuir.
Geillis probably isn’t married to Arthur Duncan in Outlander Season 7B
It’s only in 1739 that Geillis married Arthur Duncan. It doesn’t look like they’re married based on the image of Geillis for the season. She isn’t wearing a wedding ring, although I do have to question whether she wore a wedding ring in the first season. It would make sense for her to wear a ring to fit in enough to get to the position she wanted to make sure Bonnie Prince Charlie won at Culloden.
Back to 1739, though. Geillis is at the procurator fiscal's house when Buck and Roger get to Cranesmuir. As Buck goes off with Geillis in private, Roger sees Dr. McEwan, and realizes that McEwan and Geillis are having an affair. McEwan makes it clear that he knows Geillis is a time traveler as well, but she hasn’t told him this.
That’s the last we see of Geillis in the book. However, it’s clear in Outlander Season 7B that Geillis and Dougal meet. This is the start of their affair, as they realize that they want the same thing: a Catholic king on the throne.
There is a moment where Roger imagines Geillis and Buck in bed together—yes, Buck has a thing for his mom—and then there’s a blue light and Buck disappears. This is just in Roger’s imagination, and we don’t actually find out what happens to Buck after Brianna comes back to the past and finds Roger so their family can reunite.
Outlander Season 7B premieres on Friday, Nov. 22 on Starz.
