When it comes to Doctor Who, we know we’re going to get some fun adventures and a season-long arc mixed in. That season-long arc usually surrounds a companion, and that’s definitely the case for Doctor Who Season 14.

It’s all about the mystery of Ruby Sunday, played by Mllie Gibson. Who is her birth mother, and why was she left on the steps of a church on Christmas Day? It’s a mystery that started with the 2023 Christmas Day special, and we will hopefully get answers before the season ends.

Of course, there will be various journeys along the way. This is a series that takes us through time and space. We’ll head to the past, the future, different planets, and more. Just how many episodes do we get to do that in?

Doctor Who Season 14 episode count

There are going to be eight episodes in this season. That doesn’t include the Christmas Day special from 2023, so technically there are nine episodes. Yes, the Christmas Day special is an episode of this season, despite it being a special. It kick-started the introduction of Ruby Sunday and the mystery surrounding her, rather than having a one-off companion or mystery, such as when Kylie Minogue guest starred in a Christmas Day special with David Tennant.

The first two episodes of Doctor Who Season 14 will drop at once. This is the first time this has happened, and it is linked to the move to Disney+. Outside of the U.S., fans will now get to watch the series on Disney+. Episodes drop at 7 p.m. ET on Fridays, and will drop at the time zone that corresponds to that in your area.

In the UK, episodes will drop at midnight on iPlayer. The episodes will air on Saturday nights on BBC 1, with a two-episode special to start off the season.

This puts the Doctor Who Season 14 finale on Friday, June 21 on Disney+.

The good news is there’s already a Season 15 confirmed and it is filming right now. This should mean a Christmas Day special (as Russell T. Davis wanted to get back to that rather than the New Year specials that came in during Chris Chibnall’s era) and a new season in 2025.
