Dark Matter scores a second season renewal from Apple TV+

If you love time travel dramas, you likely love alternate reality dramas as well. They are all filled with science fiction and questions about getting back home. Sure enough, Dark Matter sees one man attempt to get back to his own reality.

This is not to be confused with the show of the same name that aired on Syfy. That Dark Matter ended with three seasons, and is a space show and not an alternate reality show.

Jason is a scientist who loves his life. He as the woman of his dreams, and the family he couldn’t ask anything better of. That all changes one night when he is transported to an alternate reality. In that reality, he is with another woman and nobody knows him.

Jason needs to get back home, especially when he learns who orchestrated him being in this alternate reality. There’s another version of himself in his world, and that version wants his family for some reason.

Dark Matter renewed for Season 2

In some exciting news, Dark Matter has landed a second season. Apple TV+ confirmed this, almost two months after the Season 1 finale. It certainly leaves many fans resting easy knowing that they will get some answers to their burning questions.

The first season opened the world of alternate realities up with more Jasons. Jason #1 learned that he and his family were not safe. Jason #2 did apologize for everything that he did, making it clear that it was in an attempt to save the Dessens. The end of the first season saw the Dessens decide to find another reality to make a life in, but would they find that? Now we get to find out.

Dark Matter Season 2 is likely coming in 2025 at the earliest. It does take time to film shows like this, but we have seen Apple TV+ shows stick to some great timelines. There is hope that we’ll get the series by the fall of 2025.
