Damsel director offers hope for a sequel to the Netflix movie

Damsel brought us a great story of a young woman who doesn’t wait for her prince to save her. This is definitely a historical sci-fi movie to watch if you love dragons and action.

The movie follows Elodie, the daughter of a lord to a starving nation. In an attempt to help his people, he marries Elodie to the prince, only to learn that he will never see his daughter again. She becomes the sacrifice for the royal family, but Elodie is not going to allow herself to be that sacrifice. And she isn’t waiting for her prince to come.

The end of Damsel certainly leaves things wide open for a sequel. The question is whether this could happen.

Damsel director wants a sequel

Director of the movie, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, told GamesRadar that he would love to do a sequel. This certainly helps to boost the chances of a sequel happening. Now we just need Netflix to get behind it and Millie Bobby Brown to agree to star as Elodie again.

Fresnadillo shared that the universe has been left open with the way things ended in the movie. And if you’ve watched it all the way to the end, you will certainly agree.

This is one of those movies that did not impress the critics but it did impress the audiences. That’s not surprising. It’s a fantasy historical fiction movie that involves dragons and has a female in the lead. We see a lot of issues wit critics getting behind fantasy. Horror is another genre that struggles. The movie itself, though, is full of action and great storytelling.

The ending is definitely left open for a sequel. There are plenty of more lands to explore in this universe, and there is plenty of dragon mythology to explore.
