In some great news, Bridgerton Season 4 is happening. We already know that. In fact, we’ve known it since April 2021.
With the end of the third season, eyes are now on what to expect in the fourth season. Which sibling will it follow, and when will it arrive? Let’s delve into what we know so far, which is admittedly very little as this is a show that likes to keep things under wraps as much as possible.
When could Bridgerton Season 4 arrive on Netflix?
This is a series that takes a long time in development. It’s a period drama, so that shouldn’t be too surprising. Period dramas take time in post-production to ensure those modern-day elements of the scenery are cut out.
Writing has started on the season. Elle confirms that writing is halfway through as of May 2024. This should mean production should start up by fall.
However, showrunner Jess Brownwell shared some disappointing news. While writing has started, she's expecting a two-year wait for Bridgerton Season 4. We're looking at 2026 at the earliest.
Which sibling is the focus for the fourth season?
The TV series has not followed the book order when it comes to the siblings that are the main focus. Romancing Mr. Bridgerton is the fourth of Julia Quinn’s novels, but has been used as the basis for the third season. So, does that mean we’re heading backward or forward for the fourth season?
There are fan theories that either Benedict or Francesca will become the make focus for Season 4. Why skip over a sibling in the series, though? That came down to the fact that Colin paid no attention to the feelings Penelope harbored for him. That needed to be resolved sooner rather than later on the series.
Francesca married at the end of Season 3. It's highly unlikely that we'll get more of her character. Well, that is until you consider the way she met Michaela Stirling, who is Michael Stirling in the books. Could we end up with a scandalous season for Francesca?
It could mean a jump back to Benedict. This theory was further fueled when the wig artist for the series, Grace Gorman, noted that Lady Cowper’s first name is Araminta. That’s the name of Sophie Beckett’s stepmother in the books, which hints that Sophie and Benedict’s relationship is coming up.
Francesca has gained more screentime in the series, though. This could hint that there is going to be focus on another woman from the Bridgerton family. Quinn knows which sibling is next, but she refuses to tell anyone.
All we know right now is that we’ll get to see many of the familiar faces back, including Colin and Penelope as their love story continues.
