We've got another positive update about American Love Story

Since the announcement of American Love Story, a new installment within the Story franchise, fans have been waiting for more. We were promised a tale about John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.

Just recently, we learned that the American Story franchise was still expanding this year. There were still talks about this Love series, but that was it. Nothing more was said, and we had no idea where in production the series could be. Now we have more details.

There are scripts for American Love Story

Executive producer Brad Simpson, who has been working on the franchise with Ryan Murphy and Nina Jacobson since the expansion into Crime Story, shared some great news with Variety. There are some scripts to the story.

He noted that this is a story that “really resonates right now.” Younger women are looking at Bessette as a “representational icon” for that period of time. It makes her a fascinating woman to explore, and the love story with John F. Kennedy Jr. is both beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

Simpson says that the team will “hopefully” bring the series to the screen, but they’re trying to figure out when it will land.

Right now, the focus is on American Sports Story, another installment in the franchise. There is also another season of American Horror Stories coming to Hulu (and Disney+ internationally).

Of course, why would someone announce a production and then decide to remain quiet? Shouldn’t the team want to push the promotion of the series? Well, it comes down to the way fans of American Crime Story have held onto the idea that “Studio 54” will be the next story. Simpson explained that Murphy mentioned it once and now everyone is expecting it. However, nothing was ever set in stone.

So now, they like to be more reserved. We’ll learn more as American Love Story goes into production, but that hasn’t happened just yet.
