There is some exciting news for Outlander fans ready to watch some season 7 episodes on Netflix. Outlander season 7, part 1 has a Netflix U.S. release date.
Yes, I know that Outlander season 7 is available in Netflix in some parts of the world. It’s here in Canada for me. However, it’s not yet available in the United States, and this is the location we’re talking about in this post specifically.
Outlander season 7, part 1 comes to Netflix soon
There is a catch to the release. Only the first eight episodes of Outlander season 7 will arrive on Netflix on Monday, Aug. 11.
This was the date I suspected this would happen, but I wasn’t sure if STARZ would allow for half of the season to go to Netflix. When Canada got the first half of the season, I did suspect that this would happen, so I’ve always had Aug. 11, 2025 in mind. It marks two years since the release of the Outlander season 7A finale.
As fans will remember, Outlander seasons 6 and 7 were both supposed to be 12 episodes long, but season 6 was reduced to just eight episodes. Part of that was due to Caitriona Balfe’s pregnancy, and part of it was due to COVID-19 delays. It led to the final four episodes of Outlander season 6 being tacked onto Outlander season 7, making that season 16 episodes. We just knew there would be a break after eight episodes!
When will Outlander season 7, part 2 come to Netflix?
With only eight episodes coming to Netflix on Aug. 11, it begs the question of when the rest of Outlander season 7 will arrive. This is still set to be on Jan. 17, 2027. Again, it marks two years from the finale of the seventh season.
This has been the pattern since the fourth season of the series. When Netflix got the licensing rights, three seasons were added at once. Then the seasons were added exactly two years after the finale dates. It makes sense for STARZ to do this considering it’s a STARZ Original Series. STARZ won’t want to lose all subscribers to Netflix.
At least the entire seventh season of Outlander is still available on STARZ. There’s no reason to think any of the episodes will be removed from there for as long as the universe is popular with viewers.
