With the cliffhanger ending to Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, there’s no doubt that you want more to the story right away. Well, if you’re new to the world of Outlander, we have some terrible news. It’s time for Droughtlander!
Those who have been following Outlander for some time will know that Droughtlander is one of the hardest times. There’s little shared about the series, and it ends up being long. In fact, we’re in Droughtlander more often than we’re not.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 is currently in production
We don’t know exactly when Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 will arrive, but we know it’s not going to be in 2025. There are a lot of reasons to state that with certainty, and one of them is that Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 is currently in production.
The earliest we’ll expect to see the season is the end of 2026. The first season was in production for around seven months, although there were some delays due to weather, so we could see production take around six months or just a little more for season 2. With season 2 production starting in June, it takes us to the end of 2025.
There is absolutely no way to get the season before 2025 comes to an end with that in mind. It’s impossible, even if post-production was done at the same time as production.
Outlander post-production takes a long time
It can take post-production the same amount of time and sometimes longer than the production period, which means we’re waiting at least six months to get through Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 2 post-production. Keep in mind, though, that then STARZ needs to fit it into the schedule, and there are other shows at various points of production at the moment.
Let’s look at the first season of this series, though. Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 wrapped filming in July 2024. It wasn’t until August 2025 that the series premiered. Now, it could have been ready a little earlier, but I did suspect the August date to time with the anniversary of Outlander season 1.
It’s beside the point, though. It took a year from filming to wrap to the first season being ready, and we’re potentially looking at something similar for Outlander: Blood of My Blood. I’d say the earliest we’ll see it is the end of 2026, but with Outlander season 8 coming in early 2026, I wouldn’t put it past STARZ to hold it until early 2027.
