As we get closer to the Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiere date in the United States, eyes moved to other locations around the world. Canada was on the list right away as a country to get the show, but what about Australia?
There’s no doubt that there are loyal Australian Outlander fans. The main series heads to Foxtel, and then episodes eventually head to Netflix. However, the Outlander: Blood of My Blood series is heading to a slightly different home, and it’s not clear if there will be a Netflix release for this one. At least we have a premiere date to share!
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be released in August in Australia
There won’t be a need to avoid spoilers for too long in Australia, as Outlander: Blood of My Blood will premiere on Saturday, Aug. 9. Now this is technically at the same time as the U.S. viewers due to the time zones. This matches a release pattern with the original series, as it always looks like the release is a day later, but time zones mean that the releases are around about the same time.
Episodes will air exclusively on Stan in Australia. Of course, there could be a deal with Netflix for the episodes to head there around a year later, which is the deal Foxtel has with Outlander.
The series will air on Saturdays weekly. Of course, if there’s a week break during the show, which has become the normal for STARZ shows, then Australia will see that week break as well.
What is Outlander: Blood of My Blood about?
The prequel series will give us two epic love stories. The first is one that we’ve already heard a little about, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser. It’s time to see how events really played out, as Jamie has shared what he knows, but he wasn’t there for it. We’ve heard a little about Ellen from Brian as well, but he focuses on his love for his late wife when talking with Brianna, unaware that she is his granddaughter.
Murtagh has been the one to share the most about Ellen MacKenzie. Again, though, he wasn’t there for Ellen and Brian’s love story, so it’s been third-party accounts. Now we get to see it all play out, as well as how people reacted when they learned Ellen and Brian ran away with each other.
The other epic love story is that of Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp. We don’t know anything about the two of them, except that they died in a car accident when Claire was just five. She learned nothing about them from her uncle from what we’ve heard, so it’s time to see what the creators of the series have in store for this epic tale.
