For the last six weeks, we’ve watched Eliza solve crimes with the new detective inspector. Alexander Blake has caused a few problems, but he’s made Miss Scarlet season 5 enjoyable.
Now there comes some bad news. We won’t get a new episode of the series tonight, Sunday, Feb. 23. We wish we had some good news to come after this, but at the moment, there isn’t a lot.
Miss Scarlet season 5 has come to an end
In some terrible news, we’ve come to the end of Miss Scarlet season 5. The previous episode did seem like a big one, as it involved the police commissioner, the British secret service, and the Russian mob. This was one where Eliza’s life was put on the line on a couple of occasions, so you probably aren’t surprised to find out that it was the season finale.
This means there are no more new episodes for some time. PBS will move onto different programming, with Great Performances airing on Sunday night to start off the programming. There are still episodes of All Creatures Great and Small to come, so make sure you tune in at 9 p.m. ET/PT for that series.
Is Miss Scarlet season 6 happening?
There is some excellent news. PBS has renewed Miss Scarlet for season 6. Eliza is back, along with DI Alexander Blake. There will be some changes to the cast, though.
If you wondered if Patrick Nash was really heading to Australia, it looks like he is. Felix Scott will not return. In a way, this makes sense as Nash's storyline did come full circle with him realizing that he had to do the right thing for Eliza.
In another cast shakeup, Evan McCabe will not return as Detective Fitzroy. This would suggest that he is leaving the city with his dad, who was caught up in the Russian mob mess at the end of season 5.
Miss Scarlet is available to stream on PBS Masterpiece.
