There is great news for historical romance fans! Netflix has released the newest Pride and Prejudice teaser.
The trailer begins with a dreamy sunrise and birdsong, reminiscent of the well-known 2005 movie adaptation. It shows Elizabeth Bennet sitting on a rooftop and Mr. Darcy riding in on horseback.
Elizabeth and Darcy’s love story has captivated fans for centuries, first with Jane Austen’s romantic novel and later with the many on-screen adaptations that have followed. Now, best-selling author and screenwriter Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) and director Euros Lyn (Heartstopper) take on the iconic drama.
Alderton told Netflix, “Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story, and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it.” She added, “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy — it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”
Starring Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, Lady Chatterley’s Lover) as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Benediction) as Mr. Darcy, this newest adaptation promises to cherish and honor the beloved 1813 book.
Netflix executive Mona Qureshi previously said, “[Alderton] is able to bring new insights, whilst celebrating all that the generations of fans hold so dear.”
The Bennet family also includes Olivia Colman (The Crown, The Favourite) as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat, Scoop) as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor (Industry, La Dame Dans L’Auto) as Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper, Cabaret) as Lydia Bennet, Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet, and Hollie Avery as Kitty Bennet.
Other notable cast members include Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats, Barbie) as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery; Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge (House of Guinness, Disclaimer) as Mr. Wickham, Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter, Killing Eve) as Lady Catherine de Bourgh, and Siena Kelly (Black Mirror, Domino Day) as Caroline Bingley.
With a talent-packed cast and team, this adaptation is sure to please!
The six-episode mini series is set to air in 2026. If you are a “fool in love” with Pride and Prejudice, be sure to check it out later this year.
