After the return of Moses Valentine on Miss Scarlet season 6 episode 3, it’s time for another fan-favorite return. Things have certainly felt off without Detective Phelps around, but he’ll be back on Miss Scarlet season 6 episode 4.

Phelps is now a Detective Inspector, getting a promotion with the City Police. This is a great move for him in his career, after feeling overlooked not getting the position at Scotland Yard. While he is certainly peculiar at times, he does want to get the job done, and he even admits that he needs to hire Eliza Scarlet in the new episode.

Phelps and Blake will need to work together on Miss Scarlet season 6 episode 4

There’s a lot to break down from the preview of Miss Scarlet season 6 episode 4. It tells us that Phelps needs to hire Eliza, but that he also ends up having to work with Blake. This is likely due to whatever case landing in both jurisdictions, and the best thing to do is to combine evidence instead of working the same case from two completely different angles.

It’s sure to cause problems for Eliza and Blake, though. At the end of the previous episode, Blake was annoyed that Eliza hid what she was doing in Southampton. In her defence, Patrick Nash likely went to her as a client, and she is always clear that her clients need confidentiality. Can Blake understand that some parts of her work must be kept a secret?

A threat against someone personal to Blake on Miss Scarlet

It won’t be the lying that hurts Blake the most, though. Dylan Cooper is also back, and he’s ready with some threats. Of course, the man is, but these threats are personal. It looks like he’s willing to go after Blake’s daughter, Sophia.

This is where Blake’s heart is, and he will do everything in his power to protect his daughter. While we see her in images with Eliza, is it possible that Blake can end up blaming Eliza for something happening to Sophia? Could this lead to the end of their relationship?

If things end badly between them, what does that mean for Eliza’s agency? She has been getting work from places other than Scotland Yard, but Clarence was right to be worried about her losing work if things don’t go well with Blake.

Miss Scarlet airs on Sundays at 8/7c on PBS.
