With a new season comes a change in the cast. Miss Scarlet season 6 is no different.

Cast shakeups help to keep the series feeling fresh. They can also be because actors decide they are ready to leave a show, and sometimes, it’s just a natural arc for the character. What’s the deal with the two cast exits coming in Miss Scarlet?

Felix Scott will not return as Patrick Nash in Miss Scarlet season 6

One of the cast exits that probably won’t come as a surprise to many is Felix Scott’s exit. He has played Patrick Nash on the series, a former private detective who was both friend and foe to Eliza. The last we saw of Nash, he had managed to score an early release from prison, but it was due to the need for him to do some off-the-book work.

Nash ended up handing Eliza the man he was supposed to deliver to someone else, and he took the boat ticket to Australia instead.

The goodbye between Nash and Eliza was fitting. We did seem to get a redemption arc for Nash, and the exit worked. As much as I would love to see him again, I’d actually love a spin-off series with him in Australia.

Evan McCabe will not return as Oliver Fitzroy in Miss Scarlet season 6

Evan McCabe was the shocking exit ahead of the sixth season. This isn’t due to the show wanting to go a different, creative route, though. It turns out that McCabe has landed a role in The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Hamlet. He can’t be in two productions at once, and we love that he has been able to land this opportunity.

The scheduling conflicts mean that the series will need to write out the character. Sadly, it likely means that we won’t get the goodbye that Fitzroy deserves.

There is a new detective coming to Scotland Yard. Sam Buchanan will take on the role of Detective George Willows, who has risen through the police ranks to earn the title. He’s sure to want to prove himself to Alexander Blake, but he will also need to deal with a certain Detective Phelps, who is struggling with his mental health in the series.

Miss Scarlet is available to stream on PBS Masterpiece.
