It was only a matter of time before Blake would concede to Eliza working with Scotland Yard. Miss Scarlet season 5, episode 5 seems to turn the tide.
Alexander Blake wasn’t in the previous episode of the series. This was very focused on giving Patrick Nash the goodbye he deserves. It seems that we are losing Nash, and I’m sad about that. He was a great character, and I had a lot of hope of Eliza and Nash figuring out a working relationship this season.
We will get Blake back in Miss Scarlet season 5, episode 5, though. Let’s take a look at what to expect.
The murder of a theater team half in Miss Scarlet season 5, episode 5
When one half of a theater team is murdered, Detective Inspector Alexander Blake is called in to solve the case. Of course, Miss Scarlet is coming in to also solve the crime.
This is a chance for Eliza to prove that she is invaluable to Scotland Yard. She has been able to do that here and there in previous episodes. It’s clear that Blake is warming up to the idea of her working with him. She has proven that she is trustworthy and not like the private detectives he has hired in the past.
However, it looks like it’s not just going to be their working relationship that blossoms. Could we see a personal relationship develop?
Eliza has been able to break down some of Blake’s barriers that he puts up at work. She has learned a little about his daughter, including the fact that his wife died. Eliza knows what it is like to grow up without a mother, and it’s not something that she would wish for any other child. With this empathy, Blake has seen another side to Eliza, and he certainly seemed to like her for it.
I don’t think Eliza should move on too quickly. William has only just left, and it does seem too soon for her to jump into a relationship. However, this is the late 19th century, and things were very different for women back then.
Check out the synopsis for Miss Scarlet season 5, episode 5:
