Here we are. After nine wonderful episodes, we’re reached the Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 finale. What a journey it has been!

The penultimate episode left us with mixed emotions. There was finally hope for Henry and Julia to be together, but Ellen ended her relationship with Brian. Granted, the latter was to protect Brian, but it’s clear that didn’t matter, as Brian has assassins after him.

Let’s take a look at the Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 finale promo and synopsis to get an idea of what to expect in the new episode. Before we break it down, take a look at both:

Ellen (Harriet Slater) prepares for her wedding day, while Julia (Hermione Corfield) attempts her escape.

Murtagh understands Brian and Ellen’s love in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

Understandably, Murtagh has been angry at Brian, which is something we’ve looked at before at ClaireandJamie.com. For the longest time, Murtagh has been in love with Ellen MacKenzie, and here Brian swoops her off her feet, and Brian didn’t even have the courage to tell Murtagh about it. Well, we knew that somehow the friendship would need to be repaired, and there was a hint of that in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 9.

In the promo, Murtagh makes it clear that he gets it. The love that Brian and Ellen have is something only told in fairytales, and now he wants to help Brian fight for that love.

Ellen may not make it to the wedding

While we see that Ellen is preparing for her wedding, there is a conversation between Malcolm’s uncle and the MacKenzies. Uncle Malcolm says that a price needs to be paid in blood, which would suggest that there’s something about to happen before the wedding. There’s also a clip of Malcolm looking not quite that happy in the promo.

In the original Outlander story, Ellen and Brian left during The Gathering in 1715. Obviously, that’s not happening in Blood of My Blood. Is Brian going to swoop Ellen away from her own wedding? I can see why they would tell the story of the Gathering instead!

Henry gets to Julia (but is it in time?)

We get a snippet of Henry holding his hand out to someone, which is presumably Julia. In fact, if you look at a clip just before it, Julia is stood on that side of the wall that Henry is as well. It would suggest that the two get to be together in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1 finale.

Yet, Julia shouts, “Help me,” and Balloch is coming toward her. Is it possible that Simon and Balloch have found out what’s going on, or is there some sort of plan happening to make it easier for Julia to escape?

Simon is looking around frantically in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

I do think Julia and Henry are going to get away together. There’s a clip of Simon rushing out of Leathers, looking around frantically. This does hint that he’s going to lose Julia and immediately start looking for her.

The question then is whether he’s going to think Julia ran away, or if he’s going to think she and William were abducted. It’s potentially going to be the latter, but he’s going to know that Henry had something to do with it.

Henry has more people on his tail

The problem for Henry is that Simon Fraser won’t be his only concern. There’s a clip of three men riding across a field, and we can safely assume that’s going to be Arch Bug and a couple of Grant men. After all, the Grants don’t want Henry to leave them, even after Isaac’s death.

Arch and Simon could team up to cause problems for Henry, though. Would Arch listen to Simon, giving him the respect he does somewhat command as a lord? Or, will Arch decide that Simon is nothing to him and focus on his own revenge?
