Just how accurate is Maisri? Is she a real Seer? Well, Outlander: Blood of My Blood gave us an idea with the birth of Julia and Henry’s child.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 6.

I’ve always had questions about whether Maisri is a real Seer or not. During Outlander season 2, episode 8, she certainly seems it when she shares the vision she has of Simon Fraser’s death. We know that Simon Fraser is fated to die a traitor, but nobody in this time period would know that.

It wasn’t surprising to find out that we got a younger version of the character in Outlander: Blood of My Blood. This has given us a great look at whether she is a Seer or not. And it certainly seems so.

Julia gave birth to a boy in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 6

As Julia went into labor, everybody expected her to have a boy. What a great way for Davina to be able to prove that Julia was lying about paternity by her having a girl instead. Well, we have to remember that Davina was right about Maisri never specifically saying that Julia’s child was Simon’s child.

So, when Julia has a baby boy, it’s not all too shocking. Maisri is a Seer, after all.

We see in Outlander that she doesn’t get to control her visions, but she can control what she tells people. It’s possible that she saw that Julia’s baby isn’t Simon’s, and she made a decision not to say anything. After all, Julia is doing this for her child’s protection, and there’s a chance that Maisri can see what will happen to the child if Simon learns the truth.

What does the prophecy mean in the Outlander prequel?

So, we go back to the prophecy that Maisri had about this boy. She says that this boy will unite clans and that the boy’s path ends at a “stone of destiny.”

While this would hint that the boy is going to help unite the clans of Scotland, and Simon believes that he will be a Scottish king, the “stone of destiny” is an intriguing comment. Is it possible that this boy will end up going back through the stones?

There is a prophecy of a 200-year-old baby, but this baby is supposed to come from the Lovat line. Of course, what the prophecy doesn’t say is whether this is a legitimate line or even a real line. If Simon believes that this boy is his, is it possible that it’s the one the prophecy was talking about? People tend to take prophecies literally, but that’s not always the case.

If the boy goes back through the stones 200 years into the future and unites clans there, it is possible that he is that 200-year-old baby that Geillis believed was going to be Brianna.

One thing we know is that there isn’t a man to unite the clans to come. Not unless you count Jamie Fraser, but even he didn’t unite the clans and sit on the throne. So, this prophecy remains a question in Outlander, and likely always will.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood airs on Fridays on STARZ.
