In February 2026, June moves to Italy for a fresh start, and what she finds is far more mesmerizing. Love at first sight can be tantalizing, adrenaline-driving, and quite dangerous all at once. The first of the Italian bestseller book series, Love Me Love Me, by Stefania S., could be the next The Summer I Turned Pretty meets Tell Me Lies. Penguin Random House describes the four-part series as, "perfect for fans of steamy, slow-burn angsty romances featuring brooding leads with troubled pasts." Sounds like the next Prime obsession for romance audiences!
The book was originally published in Italy in 2023, with English translations coming to bookstores (and apps) near you on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Deadline reported in March 2025 that the first novel reached 19 million reads on Wattpad alone, so we can expect this book to go viral in the U.S. as well, which may also be helped if the movie teaser lands well with YA romance fans.
The Love Me Love Me teaser gives little away
In the teaser, we see a young and stunning June, played by British actress, Mia Jenkins (Hanna), who meets her prince charming at a private school in Italy (this already sounds like the perfect setting for a young adult romance!). There isn’t any dialogue in the teaser, but IMDb reports that the movie will stream in English. Prince charming, a.k.a. James is played by Spanish actor, Pepe Barroso (Gran Turismo). Surely the cast will bring Stefania S.'s debut story to life in the way it deserves.
So, where is the drama in this film? Like many teen romances, the innocent girl often falls for the troubled guy — this case isn’t any different. The difference between the U.S. adaptation and the Italian original series is that June moves to Laguna Beach, California, in the American book, but to Italy in the original, which is where we will find her in the movie.
What is Love Me Love Me about?
June meets James Hunter, who is probably the type of young man she would not want to bring home to meet her mother. Yet, there is something irresistible about him that draws her in. She is bound to find trouble by hanging out with him, and with three more books in the series, there will likely be a good bit of break-ups and make-ups before the couple reaches their happily ever after, or their final end. Hopefully the film will do well so that we can see the whole series through.
