I'm starting to get excited about Julia and Davina's friendship in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

When Julia first turned up in the past, Davina wasn’t sure what to make of her, but she did try to protect her. Things took a turn in Outlander: Blood of My Blood when she felt like she was threatened by Julia’s lies about her pregnancy.

While Davina initially turned on Julia, in the end, she realized that Julia was doing what was best for her baby. That’s when things changed for Davina, and she started to see Julia as a mother desperate to protect her child, something she was when she was younger. Something she still is now.

And because of this realization, the two have a chance of a friendship, something Julia has needed in the past. Now I’m excited about what could be in store, although I don’t expect much considering Julia’s big surprise at the end of Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 7.

Now, I know there are a lot of people against Davina right now, but I’m willing to give her a chance to change. And change is slow. As I’ve mentioned before on Claire and Jamie, Davina proves that hurt people hurt people, but they can change if they choose to.

Davina and Julia are like giggling schoolgirls in Outlander: Blood of My Blood

After a discussion about being forced into a marriage, Julia decides to take matters into her own hands. She grabs some herbs and uses them to her advantage, but she needs Davina to help her with that. There has to be a way to get the grounded herbs into Simon Fraser’s food.

Well, of course, Davina is more than happy to help with this. It helps that she knows the lustful side of Simon, which ended up leading to her being raped by the man multiple times. She would do what she can to make sure Simon can’t hurt someone else in that way, and right now, her focus is on Julia.

The two were great together in this scene, giggling away like schoolgirls. As scary and daunting as the situation is, the two need to be able to laugh, and it’s great to get a little bit of humor in the show. This is something Outlander: Blood of My Blood has lacked so far.

Davina knows the way of this world

Julia needs Davina in the past. While Julia knows what it’s like to be a mom, she doesn’t know what it’s like to be a mom in the 18th century. Nor does she know what it’s like to be a mom in the Highlands in the 18th century. Even though Davina has no idea that Julia is able to travel through time, she is willing to help with the Highlands part of things—believing that Julia is just from London.

We get to see her in this episode offering that advice. She knows how Simon Fraser will act in the coming days and then in the future, and all of her words are there to offer calm and support to Julia. There are elements in this that remind me a lot of Claire and Mrs. Fitz’s relationship in Outlander season 1, and it’s something that has been missed in the prequel series.

Can this friendship continue now that Julia knows Henry is in the past?

The big question now is whether Julia and Davina’s friendship can continue to blossom. Julia has learned that Henry is in the past, and she’ll want to get to him. That means putting herself and her child at risk to manage it.

Of course, the best thing to do is to get word to Henry, and that could be possible via Davina or Brian. Would Davina want to risk something like this, though? Maybe it’s not Davina we should be worried about doing nothing, and instead Brian. He knows that Simon is willing to hurt Davina to get to him, and he may worry that he’ll hurt Davina to get to Julia and the baby.

Whoever helps, Julia is sure to find a way to get to Henry, and that is sure to bring an end to the friendship blossoming between Davina and Julia. It’s going to be a shame, but I’m also here for Julia and Henry reuniting.
