How many episodes are in Rebus season 1?
After questions of whether it would happen, Rebus is finally hitting Viaplay this month. Just how many episodes are in the first season?
Get ready for the episodes to drop on Thursday, Nov. 7. Richard Rankin leads the show as the somewhat questionable and sometimes unlikable John Rebus. This is a younger version of the character than we’ve seen before, bringing more action and more debate over his choices.
Rebus episode count
The first season has six episodes. Yes, just six episodes. This is becoming standard for streaming platforms, but it is also very normal for British TV shows. There is a lot of focus on shorter seasons that tell a full story.
There isn’t a break in the case throughout the six episodes. Don’t expect any filler storylines or standalone cases for Rebus and his partner, DC Siobhan Clarke, to solve. Everything that goes on fits together, and you’ll need to wait to find out how.
What is Rebus about?
The six-episode season follows Rebus after a crash that paralyzes his partner. Now he’s at a psychological crossroads as he learns that his brother, a former soldier, has found himself mixed up in drugs and gang warfare. Rebus needs to figure out how to protect his brother, and even if that is the right thing to do.
After all, he’s a cop. Shouldn’t he put all the bad guys away? Our titular characters finds himself questioning whether the law of the world is right or whether it’s time to follow the rules of the past.
On top of that, he’s struggling in his personal life. His ex-wife has moved on with someone else, who seems to be able to give his daughter the world. Now his daughter may be choosing her stepdad over her dad, and Rebus needs to decide if that’s the best for her or if he should do something to step up as a dad.
Rebus is available to stream on Viaplay on Thursday, Nov. 7. All six episodes will drop at once.
