If you didn’t get a ticket to The Gathering 2024 because you weren’t sure what to expect, you’ll want to know what went down. It’s time to relive the first day at Sasnak City’s The Gathering.

This is all about Friday, Nov. 15. While the convention did start on Thursday night, that night wasn’t for meeting the cast. It was time to get your registration packets and find out some important timings. It was also a chance to meet your fellow Sasnak Sisters and Brothers.

Registration was done in tiers. It all started with Fraser’s Ridge and worked through to Craigh na Dun attendees. There were a few items unavailable thanks to the internet connection in the hotel, but the team members knew all about it and worked on dealing with that for the next day.

Photos, autos, and more at The Gathering 2024

Fraser’s Ridge, Lallybroch, and Leoch tier members were asked to get to the museum for Friday mid-morning to start the convention. It all started with the All Cast photo, which is always a great time to meet the cast briefly. The aim is to have your pose thought of in advance.

I like to do the “going into battle” pose for this one, because it’s so much fun to see what the cast members think of. I have this from the beginning of the these conventions to make a compilation of them. You can do what you want, though—within reason, of course!

There were a few other photos done, as well. Leoch members needed to be there to get their tier photos done. Fraser’s Ridge and Lallybroch members could get a few other items needed, and those who had Meet & Greets were invited to the museum in time for them. The schedule was sent out during the week leading up to the event for the Friday to make sure everyone knew when they needed to be at the museum.

There was some time for some autographs before the Opening Panel. This one was a short one, but there were some great antics on the stage that people are sure to remember. Nobody got photos of the panel due to phones being taken—this actually allows for the antics as the cast members feel a little freer. They get to be themselves, and it’s great!

Turtle Soup for Fraser’s Ridge ticket holders at The Gathering

As usual, Fraser’s Ridge got to stick around after the panel to get ready for Turtle Soup. This is a round-robin style event, but there is a small bite to eat offered first. There is also an open bar available.

I’ve written specifically about Turtle Soup. It’s a great way to meet the cast and get some selfies with each of them. This is only for Fraser’s Ridge holders and not for sale to everyone else.

What did everyone else do? Well, grab some food and get to know their fellow Sasnak people! It’s a chance for a lot of people to meet up and hang out as they may not have arrived until late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

This was an extremely well-organized day with everyone listening and being where they needed to be. Honestly, attendees listening to where they need to go helps to make everything run so smoothly. It’s so much easier than running around looking for individuals!
