As we got ready for Outlander: Blood of My Blood, there was a moment in the trailer that stood out. It seemed to indicate that Henry Beauchamp would travel to more than one time period.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 6.
At claireandjamie.com, we took a look at the potential theory that Henry would travel to his future. There was a quick clip that had a World War II memorial in the background, hinting that Henry Beauchamp could head to the 1940s or beyond. We’ve finally seen that clip in the TV series, and we’re sad to report that he doesn’t do any time traveling.

It looks like it was a bad choice of location in Outlander: Blood of My Blood
The choice of location looks to have been a bad one. In fact, in the TV show, there doesn’t seem to be the same big focus on the monument behind Henry, as he’s running up the street with a newspaper in hand and a smile on his face.
He’s celebrating the end of World War I. This puts us in November 1918, which should mean that the 1939-1945 memorial isn’t there. So, it would suggest that someone in production didn’t notice this at the time of filming.
It’s also possible that the footage was kept in during the trailer, but it was edited out for final filming purposes. This can happen, and there are even times that footage is used in a trailer that isn’t even shown at all in the actual show. It all depends on how the episodes have ended up cut.

This could also be a sign of Henry’s mental break
At the same time, we have to remember that Henry is having a mental break in Outlander: Blood of My Blood season 1, episode 6. He’s just learned that Julia and his unborn baby had died in childbirth, and while we know that’s not true, Henry doesn’t. In his grief, his memories take over as he holds onto Julia.
This leads to him being in the past, and it’s possible that his memory is faulty. He’s just trying to piece together something that he should remember from his own time period. Of course, he shouldn’t remember a World War II memorial, but if you do look closely in the episode, it’s not as clear that it’s a World War II memorial as it looked in the trailer.
I’m still going with that it was a bad location and some bad editing during the trailer. It happens, but it’s a shame, because it would have been a lot of fun to see characters go time-period jumping.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood airs on Fridays on STARZ.
