Jamie Fraser made it back to Lallybroch in Outlander season 7, episode 9. He had some major moments throughout the episode, but three stand out the most.

This was an episode about realizing that home doesn’t necessarily remain that way. Jamie has spent the last few years in America, and he’s made Fraser’s Ridge his home. Lallybroch will always be important to him, but it’s not the same as it was when he left.

Knowing that he will need to go back to America at some point, Jamie realized that he needed to deal with some unfinished business. That led to some great moments throughout the episode.

Admitting his love for Claire to Laoghaire

For all the hate that Laoghaire gets, I will always point out that Jamie Fraser led her on in Outlander season 1. She was just a 16-year-old girl who was a woman of her time. When Jamie took the beating for her at Castle Leoch, she believed that it was a show of his love for her. Then he kissed her in the stairwell, and she was sure that it meant the two were meant to be together.

During Outlander season 7, episode 9, Laoghaire had the chance to confront Jamie about all of that. She brought up the fact that Jamie never loved her and, in a way, misled her in his feelings for her. He knew how she felt, and he strung her along. Was it all that surprising that she believed that Jamie married Claire because he had to and not because he wanted to?

I’m glad to see that Jamie took some ownership into his actions back then. It’s been a long time coming, and as much as it hurt Laoghaire to learn this, she needed that truth and closure.

Jamie isn’t a perfect man, as much as many fans would love to say he is.

Supporting Claire in telling the Murrays the truth

Claire decided that she needed to tell the Murray family the truth about her ability to time travel. Jamie questioned her decision about that, but in the end, he supported her. He could see that telling Michael about the French Revolution was important to her.

He was there by her side to tell the family. He didn’t even do any of the talking. He left it all to Claire to explain things, but he was there to support her just in case nobody believed her or it started a fight. Having him there was important to Claire and it was important for the whole family. By Jamie showing that he believes Claire, he tells the others that this is real.

Sure, Jamie has his flaws. He’s a violent man at times, but he is also in love with Claire, and he will be there for her every step of the way.

Being there for Jenny when she needed him

While Jamie was out hunting, he heard a scream. Naturally, he believed that someone was hurt in Outlander season 7, episode 9. He put the game down and went to where the scream was with his rifle ready. When he realized that Jenny was on her own, he could relax a little.

I loved how he questioned whether she wanted him to leave her alone. He understands the need to scream out into the world at times. He gets that sometimes, you just need to release some of the pain and anger, and you don’t always want people around to do it.

By asking Jenny what she wanted him to do, he put the control in her hands. He gave her that choice, and he was more than willing to accept whichever choice she made. In the end, she needed her brother to hold her and support her, and that’s what he did. There were some lighter moments, but he made it clear that he may be her younger brother, but he is her rock when she needs it.

We haven’t had a chance to see much of this sibling relationship in Outlander. Getting this moment reminds us that they are close, and they are both grieving in different ways.
