All Dunk wants is to become a knight, but things took a dark turn on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. He has now found his life on the line, all just to protect a woman in need. It’s time to see Dunk face a Trial by Combat on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 episode 4.

The episode will be available earlier to stream than normal due to the Super Bowl. While the episode will still air at the usual time of 10/9c on HBO, it will start streaming on HBO Max at 12:01 a.m. PT/3:01 a.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 6. It’s a smart move, especially with such a big episode to come.

Dunk will face a Trial by Combat, but not in the usual way

The promo for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 episode 4 makes it clear that Dunk will choose a trial by combat. This is likely because he has no other choice. He could be executed for striking Aerion, and we all know that Aerion will want Dunk’s head. Another option could be to lose his hand for the action, and that would mean no longer proving himself as a knight.

So, it all comes down to a Trial by Combat. As much as Aerion won’t want that, he has no choice. Of course, Aerion has another idea: a Trial by Seven.

What’s this? Even Maeker has no idea. It turns out that this is an old custom in the Game of Thrones universe that hasn’t been done in centuries. Seven knights for seven gods — and both sides must have their seven.

Dunk needs to find seven knights on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 episode 4

This is going to be interesting for Dunk. After all, he doesn’t exactly know seven knights, and will anyone really want to go up against the Targaryens? This would mean going up against the throne, would it not?

Dunk has made the odd friend, such as Raymun. While he’s not a knight, there could be a way around that. Although, he thinks that Dunk should run.

Then there are a few others who will want to get their revenge, but is there enough for seven knights? What happens if Dunk doesn’t get seven? It looks like this is when we’re getting the speech, as Dunk asks the noble houses if there are any true knights among them.

I do have to point out that there is nobody in the middle seat. Where is Baelor? Will he fight with the Targaryens? After all, Maeker will probably fight with his son, and there are other Targaryens who will be forced into this for Aerion. Get ready for an intense episode.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms airs on Sundays at 10/9c on HBO.
