Sam Heughan gives exciting update about Outlander Season 8 production
Outlander Season 8 was affected by the WGA strike, but now that and the SAG-AFTRA strikes are over. Is it time for production to start up soon?
There are a lot of questions about Outlander Season 8. The series was affected by the WGA strike action. While not a SAG show, the team stood in solidarity with the union as much as possible. Now both strikes have come to an end, so eyes are on when we could see production for the eighth season start up.
Well, Sam Heughan went the Graham Norton Radio Show to talk about his book Clanlands, it’s the sequel about the road trip in New Zealand with Graham McTavish. Of course, Outlander came up, and the leading man shared an exciting update about production.
When will Outlander Season 8 production start?
Heughan shared that production on Outlander Season 8 will start up next year. The actors will be back on set in Scotland in the spring. There isn’t an exact date, but we have seen March mentioned a lot. Sam does say the “beginning of spring,” and March is the beginning of spring, so it’s possible.
Production is set to end around October. That is a short production, but it’s worth noting that Season 8 is going to be shorter than previous seasons. It will only have 10 episodes, which means six to seven months of filming makes sense.
This could mean a 2025 premiere date is possible. Post-production can take just as long as production due to the CGI, so that means around six or seven months of post-production. The summer of 2025 is plausible as a premiere date. That’s not too long of a Droughtlander considering Outlander Season 7B is set to arrive sometime in 2024. Of course, we’re still waiting for the prequel series, Blood of My Blood, as well.
