Turtle Soup is the Friday evening event for Fraser’s Ridge tier attendees. What happened at the event at The Gathering 2023?

The first day of The Gathering 2023 ends with Turtle Soup. This is only for Fraser’s Ridge attendees (unless you win a ticket in a raffle), and it’s a highlight of the day for many people. This is certainly one of those events to do, even if it’s just the once.

Don’t worry; it’s not Willoughby’s Turtle Soup! There is some food to enjoy, though. It’s small nibbles, so it is important to drink responsibly throughout the night. Just what goes on at the event? What happened during The Gathering 2023?

There were five tables set up, allowing for up to two cast members per table. Steven Cree was the one on his own. Kristin Atherton and Gary Lewis were together, Joey Phillips and Caitlin O’Ryan teamed up, and John Bell and Izzy Meikle-Small were together. The cast members move around the tables, so attendees can remain seated throughout. There is an open bar with breaks during the session to give attendees a chance to grab a drink.

Each table gets 12 minutes with the cast members. It’s a great chance to ask questions and learn more about the individuals. Of course, the SAG-AFTRA rules were in place, which included not asking questions about specific shows. However, questions about acting in general were allowed.

At the end of the 12 minutes, there is time for selfies before the actors move on to other tables.

The event ends at around 9 p.m., so then it’s off out with friends or to the hotel to end the night and share all about the night with those who didn’t get to go but want to hear about it.
