Why would Rob take Jemmy in Outlander?
Rob Cameron has shown his true colors. He’s taken Jemmy, and it looks like they’ve gone to the past, in Outlander Season 7. Why would Rob do this? What does Rob want?
At the end of Outlander Season 7, Episode 7, Bree and Roger’s worst fears came true. Jemmy was taken. And it looks like he’s been taken through the stones.
Rob was supposed to take Jemmy to the movies, but that was just a ruse. In the end, Rob took Jemmy up to the stones. We have that confirmed in two ways: Mandy says that Jemmy was there before he was just gone and Roger saw the Tufty Club badge on Jemmy’s scarf by the stones.
While we have a lot of questions about where Jemmy is, we also need to understand Rob’s motivations? Why would he take Jemmy through the stones?
Rob read the letters in Outlander
We know that Rob must have read some of the letters from the box. Roger had noticed the box had been moved, and then later on realized that one of the letters was poking out. This could give us a clue as to what Rob wants.
The letters mention the gold. It’s not written out clearly with Jamie talking in some sort of code, but Roger knew immediately that it could have been linked to the rumor of cursed Jacobite gold. Rob is sure to have heard that same rumor with where he grew up. Is it possible that he’s put the connection together and now he wants Jemmy to take him to that location?
Rob also read the book about time travel. He played it off that it was some sort of fictional story, but it looks like he knew the truth. Does he want to take Jemmy back to the time when Jamie buried the gold knowing that it will be there rather than risking the chance that it was found at some point before the present day?
There is also the chance that the mention of Geillis was a hint. There are a lot of people who travel back through time on purpose to change history. Is it possible that Rob wants to do that? If so, why would he take Jemmy? Unless Rob can’t travel and thinks that he’ll be able to do so if he has a time traveler with him.
