Trusting Young Ian to save Claire
Jamie and Young Ian work together to get rid of the British who are pretending to be Indians. HOwever, while they’re doing this, Claire is taken by the British. Again! It’s up to Jamie and Young Ian to save her once again.
Jamie wants to go into the camp and get his wife back. Ian knows that’s a death sentence, and he encourages his uncle to go along with his plan instead. I love that we see Jamie realizing that he doesn’t need to do it all himself. Young Ian is a good and smart man, and he will be able to get Claire out.
That doesn’t stop Jamie from helping, though. He fires some fiery arrows into the camp to help create a distraction.
Choosing to remain with the Continental Army
Claire notes that Jamie’s time with the Army is coming to an end. He could leave now and go to Scotland with Young Ian. However, Jamie isn’t going to do that.
He was talking to Daniel Morgan, who is the leader of the snipers. Daniel wants Jamie to join him, and Jamie makes it clear that this is something he needs to do. As much as Jamie doesn’t want to face his son on the battlefield, it’s not easy to walk away from these innocent people who need him.
Finding out more about William
Within this conversation is one about William. When Young Ian rescued Claire, Jamie noted that she had a flash of brandy. Claire shares that it came from William, who was the one to help her and Ian escape.
Jamie wants to know about his son, but it isn’t time right away. They need to get to safety. Once they have a moment to rest, Jamie asks about his son. He needs to know what type of man William is, and it’s clear that both Claire and Jamie are proud of the young man that he is becoming. Claire only had good things to say about him.
