Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

This chapter certainly foreshadows Richardson being more of a problem. Remember that the Duke of Pardloe is Hal Grey. Richardson is after someone like Ben, Henry, or even William. All this suggests that the story about Ben isn’t true.

We already know that William found out Ben isn’t in the grave for him. Richardson was the one to tell the Greys about Ben dying. Why would Richardson do that if he was going to use Ben as a way to get to the Duke of Pardloe? Something isn’t adding up with this.

Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter

I certainly expect to see the Richardson part of the story to be used in the TV series. I do think he will be the final big bad of the story. It makes sense considering what’s happened so far and the fact that Outlander Season 8 is mostly based on Book 9, which includes Richardson much more.

We need to see some sort of build-up. We need to get a read on the character. Including that part of this chapter is a great way to do that.

I’m not sure if the surgery will be included, though. We don’t get to see all of Claire’s surgeries, especially when they’re on minor characters. I think this may be skipped unless it’s necessary in a broader sense of the story.
