The Outlander Season 7 trailer made it clear that Claire could face the gallows. Was Claire executed in the Outlander Season 7 premiere?

Caution: There are spoilers for the Outlander Season 7 premiere in this post.

STARZ was not ashamed to show off Claire standing in the gallows with a noose around her neck. We’d left her in a Wilmington jail cell at the end of Outlander Season 6, and it looked like she would face execution in the seventh season. The question was whether this would all play out.

Would Jamie manage to get to Claire in time before she was thrown off the ledge? Would we get something similar to the end of Pirates of the Caribbean when it looked like Jack Sparrow was going to be executed?

The premiere opened with Claire standing on the gallows. People around were silent, and Claire looked everywhere around to see someone familiar. The only person she saw was Richard Brown looking at her with an awful smirk. Then she was pushed off the ledge.

Well, it turns out that it was all a dream, but not Claire’s dream. It was Jamie visioning what could happen to his wife. However, his voiceover made it clear that he didn’t think that Claire was dead. They were one now, and he felt like she was still alive.

Now he just had to get to Claire to save her. Young Ian caught us up with where John Quincy Myers and the Cherokee were. They’d gone back to the Ridge to check in on people there while Jamie and Young Ian rode off to Wilmington. Jamie knows that he doesn’t have a lot of time, but he feels like Claire is still alive.

And Claire was still alive at this point. She didn’t actually face the gallows.
