Outlander Season 7 is going to pick up off the back of the Outlander Season 6 finale. That was a knock-on from things that happened to Malva Christie. Do you need a reminder of the events that led to Claire being arrested?

The Outlander Season 6 finale ended with Claire being locked away in a jail cell. She is facing trial for murder. Yes, murder, and not one of her patients!

Instead, she’s facing trial for the murder of Malva Christie. Before we get into the new season, we need a quick refresher of the events that led to Claire to being arrested—and why Tom is the one looking out for her of all people!

How did Malva Christie die in Outlander Season 6?

Claire found Malva dead in her garden. This was after she knocked herself out with ether again. While in her unconscious state, she had a vivid dream where she killed Malva. That led to her wondering whether she had actually killed Malva in her garden.

She hadn’t. However, Claire was accused of murder. After all, Malva was pregnant with a baby that was rumored to be Jamie’s. Malva said that Jamie was the father, even though Jamie hadn’t slept with her. Claire knew Jamie didn’t do it. If that baby was Jamie’s, he would have accepted it and paid maintenance. That is just who he is. But he didn’t do it.

That didn’t stop the Fisherfolk from claiming she was the murderer. They were suspicious of her anyway, not really liking her surgical ways. They viewed her as a witch, so the idea of getting rid of her was a positive for them.

Who did kill Malva? That’s sure to come up at some point in Outlander Season 7. You can read the book if you need to. Tom Christie likely knows at this point, which is why he’s making sure Claire is safe, knowing that Claire isn’t guilty of murder.

Outlander Season 7 premieres on Friday, June 16 on STARZ.
