We know Ian Murray will be back at some point in Outlander Season 7. Is that going to happen in Outlander Season 7A, or will we need to wait?

With Outlander Season 7 being split in two, we’re now looking at which of the returning characters we’ll need to wait to see. Will some of them be left to return until the second half of the season?

One of the characters we’re excited to see return in Ian Murray. He was set to return at some point in Outlander Season 5, but Steven Cree’s involvement in A Discovery of Witches halted that. It turns out the beard for Gallowglass was a problem. But he will be back in Season 7, and he’ll come with Jenny Murray this time—Laura Donnelly isn’t returning, though.

So, when will we get to see Ian? We won’t go into the book spoilers in this post. All we’re looking at is the promotional material for the first half of the new season.

Will Ian Murray be in Outlander Season 7A?

It doesn’t look like we’ll see Steven Cree’s character back right away. Looking at the trailer, there is no focus on Scotland or Lallybroch at all. That’s where Ian is, and we don’t see the storyline changing to bring him to America.

The first half of the season is focused on saving Claire from her current situation, the fire at the Big House, and the Siege of Ticonderoga. It does look like we’ll need to wait until 2024 to see Ian Murray return. There is a chance that he’ll at least be mentioned in the first half of the season, though.

Of course, some things could be kept as a surprise. However, with the return of such a beloved character, it is strange that there isn’t anything promotional about him if he is showing up in the first eight episodes.
