Outlander Book Club: Written in My Own Heart’s Blood Chapter 111 breakdown
Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter
This chapter certainly foreshadows things for Henri-Christian. At the end of the chapter, Claire and Marsali note that they can see the two girls. They can’t see Henri-Christian. It surprises me that he is brought up since didn’t they send Henri-Christian to the docks during the chapter?
In a later chapter, there is a devastating moment. Henri-Christian is trapped in the fire that is mentioned. Poor Germain can’t save him, and he’s terrified that his parents blame him. This chapter is setting everything up, forcing Marsali and Fergus out of Philadelphia and bringing an end to Henri-Christian’s short life.
Adapting the Written in My Own Heart’s Blood chapter
The chapter could be adapted. The only reason I’m on the fence is because I haven’t seen anything of Marsali and Fergus coming back into the story in Outlander Season 7. It is possible that we’ll only hear of what the two are getting up to moving forward.
It all depends on how much the writers want to keep them in the story. I want to see them still in the story, of course! Henri-Christian’s death is such a big moment, but will there be enough time to continue building this family and then having the aftermath of the threat that Marsali receives?
